Valentina is a mafia princess the eldest daughter of a Don of a prominent NYC Mafia Family, on the run from her abusive husband, an enforcer for her father, when she meets our hero Damiano. She thinks he is a very protective businessman, however, Damiano is a presumed heir of the Casalesi Mafia, which his distant uncle murdered his father to take over, being exiled to Ibiza as Capo of the Island with his sister. 


They are drawn together When their paths cross, but secrets and mistrust between the two put them at odds. Throughout the book, Damiano struggles with decisions that he has to make to claim his rightful position of Don. Valentina struggles with her guilt for her own guilt of things she was made to do in the past which haunt her, and for leaving her sisters to face their father’s wrath of her running from him.


This story was the first in the Fallen Series by Gabrielle. This book had it all when it came to a mafia romance, with truly despicable villains, a heart-throb morally grey anti-hero, and an almost anti-hero strong independent mafia princess. I read this book in early 2023 and recently re-read it, and even the second time around I couldn’t put it down. The spicy was spicing, and Damiano is the pinnacle of touch-her-you-die that I compare all else to now. Just Love!
