"Naked in every way. No walls. No masks. No secrets. No lies. Just Charlie. My inked, pierced, beautiful Charlie."

Simon Duchesne while attending his friend’s bachelor night walks into a tattoo shop because the groom-to-be wants his bride’s name on his ass and is instantly drawn to this girl who advises them that they don’t allow intoxicated people to get tattoos and to come back in the morning. After leaving his number for her during his tattoo touch-up, he runs into her a few more times by chance. Seeing her on the street during a wedding parade, he notices her outside her house. He decides to take a chance and show up at her doorstep, where she eventually offers herself to him. However, he wants more than just a one-night stand, as he is determined to figure her out and make her his.

Charlie “Lee” after being a witness in a trial for her father’s embezzlement case after stealing 125 billion dollars which is still hidden somewhere leaves Manhattan, New York and starts a life in New Orleans, Louisiana. Charlie’s life revolves around working at Voodoo Ink, Dirty Dog, and her dog, Huck. Trying to keep her head down and away from anything that could put her in the spotlight, keeping her circle small. She tries to avoid Simon’s advances, but fate has other ideas when these two continuously run into each other. But when something happens that makes her world start crumbling in chaos the person she calls is Simon, who comes running.

Simon and Charlie’s story goes through a lot of trials and has no overzealous storylines. I connected with both of these characters and became fully invested in the first paragraph. The way that they deal with the ups and downs of their relationship makes it so realistic that makes it so easy to connect with their emotions.

This book is a flip from the normal ‘bad boy, good girl’ to a ‘bad girl, good boy’ trope. The ‘Beneath Series’ is an interconnected series that can all be read individually and in any order, however, there is character building of future main characters within each book so personally I would recommend reading them in order. Meghan March is a mastermind of the universe she has created, and cannot wait to share the next books that I am going to review from her collection.
