In Iron Flame we enter Violet’s second year at Basgiath War College, where many believed she wouldn’t survive past Threshing. Throughout Iron Flame we see the development of Violet and Xaden’s relationship ... I feel like Iron Flame wasn’t as good as Fourth Wing, but with the discussion of Empyrean being a five-book series, not all the books are going to be as good as the others. There is still the fear, the angst, the suspense, and trying to work out the hidden messages that Rebecca is sprinkling throughout hinting at underlying plot lines, however, the book has a lot more world-building which dilutes the intensity of the situations within the book at times.
